Professor Ana Marr is Professor of International Development Economics at the University of Greenwich, London, UK, and conducts research on the interaction between finance, development and poverty reduction. Professor Marr has long-standing leadership skills having been Principal Investigator of major international research projects since 1997. Her research projects have involved fieldwork in a large number of countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. She publishes extensively in the related topics of finance and international development.

CO-INVESTIGATOR: DR. MARCEL VAN ASSELDONK

Dr Marcel van Asseldonk is Agriculture Economics expert at the Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Dr van Asseldonk specialises in agricultural insurance, risk assessment and management and benefit-risk analysis. He conducts projects and has published on these subjects.

CO-INVESTIGATOR: PROFESSOR ROBERT LENSINK

Professor Robert Lensink works at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Professor Lensink’s areas of expertise include macroeconomics, finance, development, investment theory and capital market imperfections. He publishes extensively on these and related research areas.

CO-INVESTIGATOR: PROFESSOR ERWIN BULTE

Professor Erwin Bulte is Professor of Development Economics at Wageningen University and Professor of Institutions and Development at Utrecht University, in the Netherlands, and a Fellow at Cambridge and Oxford Universities. Professor Bulte is an eminent economist ranked one of the best in the world. He publishes greatly on the topics of development economics.

CO-INVESTIGATOR: MR. PAUL GAMBA

Mr Paul Gamba is a Lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management at the Egerton University in Kenya. His research interests are agriculture policy-making, food security, rural poverty dynamics, and livestock development in Africa.

SENIOR RESEARCHER: DR. GIDEON ONUMAH

Dr Gideon Onumah is Principal Agricultural Marketing and Finance Economists at the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich, UK. His expertise is on African agricultural production, marketing and financial systems as on rural/microfinance issues. He has been leading major projects in Africa, including the EU-funded FARMAF project.

RESEARCHER: Ms. HANNEKE LAM

Ms. Hanneke Lam is an Economist at the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich, UK. She undertakes research and consultancy projects related to socio-economic and institutional aspects of rural development, mainly in developing countries.

POST-DOC RESEARCHER: DR. FRANCESCO CECCHI

Dr Francesco Cecchi is Post-Doc Researcher of this project. His research interests are development economics, behavioral and experimental economics, microfinance, insurance and risk. He has conducted field research in Africa and in Latin America.
